ASUS took advantage of CES 2022 to present a new particularly… lively mechanical gaming keyboard .
Responding to the sweet name of ROG Strix Flare II Animate, it stands out from its counterparts by the presence of 312 fully customizable mini-LEDs, in addition to offering impressive performance.
A gamer keyboard that animates the gallery
The ROG Strix Flare II Animate is in itself a gaming keyboard that should satisfy the most demanding gamers. In addition to the classic keys, it offers a numeric keypad and a section devoted to multimedia, all of course with fully programmable RGB backlighting using various macros.
But its strong point is of course in the upper right corner, with a panel featuring no less than 312 mini-LEDs, otherwise known as the “AniMe Matrix LED display”. Thanks to software included with the keyboard, it is possible to configure these mini-LEDs according to your craziest desires.
Create your own images and animations, display the date and time or even the battery level for the wireless version, have the mini-LEDs react to sounds from a game or to the RGB display in progress: place your bets!
Other programmable LEDs, RGB this time, can also be found under each key. Likewise, a wrist rest that can be attached to the keyboard via magnets has its own little touch of light.
A keyboard that has the luxury of an interrogation frequency of 8000 Hz!
However, this is not the only extravaganza of this ASUS ROG Strix Flare II Animate keyboard. On the performance side, it boasts a very impressive (but not necessarily very useful) polling frequency of 8000 Hz. In other words, the time between the press of a key and the execution of the command is only 0.125 ms. Where most gaming keyboards stop at 1000 Hz, which therefore corresponds to a response time of 1 ms.
In addition to this technical prowess that could bring a certain competitive advantage in the game, this new keyboard from ASUS offers plastic PBT keys with solid mechanical switches interchangeable at will, according to the convenience of each one.
Under the keys, there is a foam aimed at drastically reducing the sound of their pressure, which makes the ROG Strix Flare II Animate a relatively silent mechanical keyboard compared to its competitors.
A luxury gaming keyboard that is definitely worth the price. ASUS has indeed announced a fairly high price of 220 dollars (about 200 euros). Its release is scheduled for the month of January.
