CPEC: Smart Classroons Will Revolutionize Education System In Pakistan

Smart Classrooms, a project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor CPEC, is in full swing in 50 universities across Pakistan, which could revitalize the education system in Pakistan in near future.

According to Chen Chen, project manager of China Railway Signal and Communication Shanghai Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd., in smart classrooms, teaching exceeds time and space, teaching both offline and online at the same time.  There will be a huge increase in teachers and students.

In addition, China will establish an intelligent system of data sharing and assessment (in Pakistan) through modern information and communication technology.

“Smart classrooms will improve students’ access to the best teachers from one place to another,” Omar Idrees, Pakistani site engineer for the Smart Classrooms project, told CEN.

It is learned that a total of 100 smart classrooms will be set up in 50 public universities in 49 cities from Hunza in the north to Karachi in the south, covering all the provinces and regions of Pakistan, which means that the state Technical education resources in all provinces will be better utilized and distributed throughout the country. This is really impressive for the students who are currently short of high-quality educational resources in the country.

Chen Chen said the development of the Smart Classroom project began in September 2021. Due to the Coronavirus epidemic, the team faced many challenges in importing equipment and materials, customs clearance, and construction.

“Now all the equipment and supplies of the project have reached our warehouse in Pakistan. We are trying to complete the entire project by November,” he added.

As CPEC enters the second phase of improving the economy of the people, education has become one of the key areas of development to help Pakistan alleviate poverty and help more Pakistanis live a better life.

“The Smart Classroom project will benefit university students in Pakistan, who are the pillars of the state in the future. It will greatly promote the development of higher education in Pakistan, helping Pakistan to develop into a knowledge-based economy Chen Chen concluded.
