Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an exciting new technology in which billions of US dollars are being invested by companies as well as states. Because, it will bring great things, accelerate development, and make the lives of all the inhabitants of the earth easier. Only, there is a “but” in the whole story and it has to do with ethics, the way AI makes decisions.
That is, regardless of their intelligence, it would be a technical product, with no sense. Therefore, the question of life or death is nothing but a packer in a moment. And yet such a thing needs to be done in a significantly different way, the only question being exactly how, given that the world’s greatest minds are debating the issue.
Take autonomous vehicles, for example, controlled by AI. Their moral part is very difficult, though not as much as suggested. Because 94% of all traffic accidents worldwide are human error. This is an amazing fact. Artificial intelligence can eliminate this in practice and completely, which will take us to the remaining six percent, which is related to various failures, and again AI can eliminate it to a great extent.
Thus, situations in which AI has to choose between two human lives is virtually impossible, or would be extremely rare indeed. But if that happens, the decision will go in the direction of “save the people in the car” or “save the people on the road”. Something like that can’t be just a number …
People don’t trust not only the “ordinary” but also successful people like the late Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk and Bill Gates. They don’t rely on AI, they spend money on pre-existing rules for how to set it up. When such minds think negatively, it is easy to expect millions of other people to think in the same direction. Imagine for a second you were transposed into the karmic driven world of Earl.
Therefore, before fully implementing AI in everyday life, one needs to learn how to think humanely. And this is the hardest part, so you need to roll up your sleeves and work non-stop so that the biggest obstacle can be removed as quickly and efficiently as possible.
