Facebook hosts first-of-its-kind Facebook connectivity infrastructure program in Pakistan The program panel included representatives from Jazz, Newtel, GSMA, Telenor Pakistan, PTCL, World Bank, Telecom University Indonesia, Telecom Infra Project and WorldLink Nepal.

Facebook Director Alex Amy, World Bank’s Natasha Beshroner, International ICT Consultant Pervez Iftikhar and Internet Services Providers Association of Pakistan (ISPAP) founder Wahaj Siraj spoke on the occasion.

Speaking at the event, Alex Amy, Director of Network Assessment at Facebook, said that new business models and technology solutions need to be identified and implemented, especially in urban areas, to meet the demand for new and existing networks.

On the occasion of Facebook connectivity infrastructure program, Natasha Beshruner of the World Bank said that the World Bank would provide easy funding to ensure easy development of infrastructure in Pakistan.

Addressing the event, International ICT Consultant Pervez Iftikhar said that low cost, fast and sustainable digital connectivity is needed for an economically stable Pakistan.

ISPAP founder Wahaj Siraj said that now is the time for telecom operators to rapidly improve their performance and expand coverage so that the cost of digital connectivity is low and reliable for a strong Pakistan. He said that in order to ensure digital growth of Pakistan, all stakeholders should focus on long term growth.
