Google Announces Covid19 Relief For Pakistan

Google has announced a 7.5 million grant and other assistance under Covid-19 Relief for five Asian countries, including Pakistan.

A statement from Google.org said that the announcement was made in a bid to end the current epidemic in countries where coronavirus cases are on the rise.

Google’s humanitarian organization Google.org will also provide a 1.5 million grant to UNICEF to provide urgent assistance in coronavirus coverage in 5 countries, including Pakistan, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines. ۔

Using the grant, UNICEF will deploy female vaccinators at Corona Vaccination Centers to increase the number of women vaccinating in Pakistan and to promote vaccine communication.

In addition, UNICEF will continue to support governments and communities in preventing the spread of the virus and reducing possible deaths from future new corona virus outbreaks.

Announcing this, Farhan Qureshi, Google’s Country Director for Pakistan, said: “The recent rise in Corona virus cases is putting tremendous pressure on our healthcare system and the grant from Google.org to UNICEF The goal is to further enhance cooperation for Pakistan at this critical time.

“We will focus on ensuring full access to information and all factors so that all Pakistanis remain informed, connected and safe in this crisis,” he said.

“We are grateful to Google.org for its support to UNICEF,” said Karen Hilshoff, UNICEF’s Regional Director for East Asia and the Pacific.

“We continue to work tirelessly against the global epidemic in the form of fair access to the population and the provision of services to the COVID-19 vaccine, focusing on the weaker sections,” he said.

“Only a genuine global response can secure the future of every child and the community we live in. We will continue to work with our partners and with their skills, innovative solutions and flexible funding,” added Karen Hilshoff. Will continue to benefit in order to help mitigate the effects of the epidemic in the region and beyond.

In addition to the grant to UNICEF, Google.org is providing an additional 1 million to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to facilitate the immediate supply of oxygen and medical equipment to Indonesia.

In addition, Google.org is providing 5 million in grants to local government agencies and organizations in Southeast Asia, including Pakistan, to run free public health information campaigns.

Since last year, Google has provided more than 2.7 million in grants to local governments, including the World Health Organization, to reach out to audiences with facts about vaccines and epidemics.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, Google.org has funded vaccine distribution in Asia and around the world through the Vaccine Alliance.
