On the occasion of CES 2022, Acer announced its 16-inch Swift X. Designed in partnership with Intel, the device is one of the first laptops to feature the new Intel Arc GPU chip … very discreet at the Intel conference.
Particularly talkative about its new generation of mobile processors , Intel, on the other hand, was really discreet on the issue of Arc GPUs during its conference at CES 2022. Despite the expectations raised by these graphics chips, the founder does not cracked no technical specification and no launch date. It has also not unveiled devices equipped with these future GPUs designed in-house… and supposed to arrive on the market during the first quarter of 2022. Fortunately, Acer is there to partly compensate for this disappointment.
Acer bets on Arc
The Taiwanese brand, which launched many new products at CES 2022, notably unveiled new models of Swift X. We learn that the new 16-inch Swift X will be entirely powered by Intel and that it will be one of the first laptops to have a dedicated Intel Arc GPU. As a watermark, Acer therefore confirms to us, in place of Intel, that these new graphics chips are indeed ready for launch. The Swift X 16 should indeed arrive in Germany in April, at a starting price of 1 199 euros, we learn from a press release shared by the Teutonic subsidiary of Acer.
This press release also informs us that the Swift X 16 will be specifically equipped with the entry-level Intel Arc A370M chip. This chip had already passed on the radar screens of specialized sites. As VideoCardz reminds us , it is supposed to be based on the DG2-128EU GPU and combine 6 GB of video memory.
The 16-inch Swift X will be 100% powered by Intel
This graphics chip is probably intended for advanced multimedia use and should also be agile in gaming, on competitive titles for example. On the Swift X 16, it will be paired with an Intel Core Alder Lake processor (12th generation) and a maximum of 16 GB of RAM in LPDDR5.
Acer mentions for the rest a storage capacity of up to 2 TB for the device, which will have two USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.0 port and a DVD player. fingerprints. Connectivity will also switch to the Wi-Fi 6E standard. On the display side, the 16-inch Swift X will finally be equipped with a QHD + IPS panel (2560 by 1600 pixels) in 16:10 format.
