iOS 15.2 Launched Officially: New Features of iOS 15.2

As Apple had announced, the new operating system update, iOS 15.2, has finally arrived. This includes several news that users have been waiting for a while. Find out what they are and the devices that can count on this new update.

Although the iOS updates generally do not have major changes, iOS 15.2 will include several features, these are the three most relevant. The App Privacy Report, the Apple Music voice plan and the detection of inappropriate content in messages.

Let’s break down each one. The app privacy report, which has been the most anticipated after its announcement in the middle of the year when iOS 15 was presented. In this section you can see in detail which applications (both Apple and third parties) request access to your information.

You can observe it through an exhaustive report that will indicate in detail how many times the applications access your camera, microphone, contacts, location or any sensor of the device. In addition, it allows you to corroborate its activity with the network, that is, with which domains the app has contacted. So you can have more control over your applications.

To activate this report you must go to  Settings> Privacy> App privacy report.

The other new feature in iOS 15.2 is the Apple Music voice plan. This is a cheaper subscription alternative that you can control only through Siri with your voice. If you acquire this function, you will only be able to play a song, album or playlist under the command of “Hey Siri”.

In addition to this limitation, you will not be able to listen to the songs in Dolby Atmos or in lossless format (without loss of quality). It is also not possible to download songs for offline listening. You can purchase the Apple Music voice plan at a cost of 4.99 euros per month , while the Individual plan costs 9.99 euros per month.

The third most relevant function is the Detection of inappropriate content in messages. With this tool parents or guardians can set a warning in case children receive inappropriate photos such as nudity. By putting this warning, the photos will be blurred within the conversation, if the child insists on opening it, the parents will receive a notification. To use this function, it must be activated manually.

If iOS 15.2 doesn’t install automatically on your iPhone, you can do it manually. To do this, go to Settings> General> Software update.

The update is compatible with the following devices:

  • iPhone 13 / mini / Pro / Pro Max
  • iPhone 12 / mini / Pro / Pro Max
  • iPhone 11 / Pro / Pro Max
  • iPhone XS / XS Max
