King Edward Medical University KEMU, Lahore and National University of Sciences and Technology NUST, Islamabad have won Urdu and English debating competitions in the national round of Pakistan Universities Debating Championship 2021-22 respectively.
The national and final rounds of the championship were held at the HEC Secretariat, following the regional rounds in five regions of the country including Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and ICT / AJK / Gilgit-Baltistan.
The ceremony also saw the distribution of prizes in four categories to the winners of the Independence Day competition. Poetry (English), Poetry (Urdu), Painting, and Videography.
The winners of the Debating Championship and Independence Day competitions were awarded shields and cash prizes. The first position holders won cash prizes of Rs. 100,000, while the second and third position holders got Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50,000 respectively.
In the National Round of Pakistan Universities Debating Championship, Gomal University, Peshawar came second in Urdu Debate and Dow University of Health Sciences Lahore came third. Similarly, Jinnah Sindh Medical University Karachi came second and University of Balochistan came third in English.
As far as the Independence Day competition is concerned, Ms. Sania Ayman won first place in English poetry. Ms. Arshia Sohaib and Ms. Asma secured second and third positions respectively.
