PMC Warns Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University for MBBS and BDS Admissions

Pakistan Medical Commission PMC has warned Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University for admission in MBBS and BDS. According to the PMC Crirteria of MBBS 2021 and PMC Criteria of BDS 2021, the National Medical and Dental Council has given 65% or 137% pass percentage of MDCAT for the academic year 2021-2022. Numbered In addition, to get admission in MBBS and BDS, candidates have to meet the requirements for admission in PMC. According to the results provided by the Commission, students who qualify for MDCAT will only be eligible for admission in public and private medical / dental colleges in Pakistan.

Admission to MBBS and BDS

The National Medical and Dental Council and the National Medical and Dental Academic Board have the power to determine the passing marks of MDCAT. No other authority reserves the right to change the passing numbers of medical entrance exams. Furthermore, without fulfilling the eligibility criteria stated on the official website of PMC, candidates will not be able to obtain MBBS and BDS degrees in Pakistan and will not be able to practice in the country. Medical and dental degrees will not be recognized locally or internationally.

Warning to medical and dental colleges

Any public or private medical / dental college that admits students who do not pass the MDCAT will be held accountable by the court and the PMC will take stern action against them and their accreditation and registration will be revoked. Earlier, the Sindh government had decided to reduce the passing marks of MDCAT by 50%. This decision was not in accordance with the PMC Act 2020 which was passed by the Parliament as well as the Senate of the Government of Pakistan. It has been said that the decision of Sindh government to reduce the passing marks of MDCAT is detrimental to the promotion of best performance in the field of education. In addition, lowering the marks for admission to medical and dental colleges will allow students to enroll in MBBS and BDS programs without qualifying for training in medicine and dentistry. The PMC has directed the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University to amend the advertisement for MBBS and BDS admissions in accordance with the policies and regulations of the PMC.
