As Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has democratized a large part of the top smartphones of 2022, now it’s the turn of the 7 series SOC by Qualcomm to be leaked online.
While a good chunk of premium smartphones choose the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, US Qualcomm is about to unveil its new 7 Series. Historically, it has been equipped with the best mid-range smartphones and represents a good compromise between performance and energy savings. The same thing happened with the great Snapdragon 778G, which was released in May 2021 – a Plus version was released in October.

The digital chat station has once again taken to the Chinese social network Weibo to reveal details about the new SOC, possibly named Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. A quartet of Arm Cortex-A510 operates at 1.8 GHz. The 778G uses a 6 nm process from TSMC, but this chip should switch to 4 nm borrowed from Samsung for its part.
However, don’t expect a big jump in application performance. According to Laker, they will be below the Snapdragon 870. Therefore, it may be that Dynamite 8100, its direct competitor, is performing better in this regard. Part of the graphics will be provided by Adreno 662. We know that the powerful Snapdragon 888 had Adreno 660, which suggests good results in the game.
Qualcomm may officially launch it during the Qualcomm 5G Summit with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+, which will be held in a virtual format in early May.
